Introduction

Learn the basics of using your Poly Edge E Expansion Module (EM) with compatible phones. The EM supports the Poly Edge E400 and E500 series phones and is ideal for busy office settings and call centers.

With the Poly Edge EM, users can:

  • Easily track call activity on its 5” color LCD screen.
  • Have more contacts at your fingertips with 22-line keys and 3 pages — up to 66 contacts per expansion module.
  • and track more calls and contacts with the ability to plug up to 2 modules (available for the E500 and E550 phones only).
  • Easy installation; power-provided by the Poly Edge E400/E500 Series host phones; no need for additional wires or cables.

Line Keys

The line keys on the Poly phones and expansion modules are numbered sequentially, and the line key numbering on an EM depends on how many lines the phone supports.

For example, an Edge E550 phone has 12 physical line keys and supports up to 48 lines when you enable pagination, numbered 1 to 48.
Note: Connecting the EM disables pagination, so the first line on the connected EM is line 13.
The line keys on the EM function the same as the ones on your Poly Edge E 400 and 500 series phones.

To assign a line key:

  1. Press and hold a line key
  2. Enter the contact’s information
  3. Press Save.

Note: You must assign every available line key on your Poly phones before using the expansion module. You can still use the EM to assign a line key; however, the contact will appear on the Poly phone if there is an available line key on it. Once all available line keys on the phone have been assigned to a contact, you can begin to assign line keys on the EM.

4.

Smart Paging

The smart paging feature arranges line key assignments and distributes pages on the expansion modules based on the number of expansion modules connected to a supported phone.
Smart paging applies only when you connect more than one expansion module to a supported phone (E500 or E550).
If you connect only one expansion module, the order of pages is sequential, even if smart paging is disabled.

Note: When you enable the flexible line key feature, the expansion module ignores the smart paging configuration and line key assignments display on the designated line key.

If you only have one expansion module connected to your phone, the pages are ordered sequentially on the module.

  • Press the first, second, or third Page key to view the corresponding pages.

If you have two expansion modules connected to your phone, the pages are ordered non-sequentially. The pages displayed on the two expansion modules are in the following order:

  • Pages 1, 3, and 4 display on the first expansion module.
  • Pages 2, 5, and 6 display on the second expansion module.
