Introduction

An administrator can assign and configure the music callers hear when placed on hold. You can use the default system music/announcement or upload a custom audio file to be played. This guide reviews how an administrator can modify and configure the music-on-hold settings for a group within the admin portal.

Requirements 

The Music on Hold file must meet the following requirements:


For .WAV files:

  1.  Linear PC
  2.  16.000 kHz
  3.  16-bit mono

For .WMA files:

  1.  Linear PCM
  2.  16.000 kHz
  3.  16-bit mono

For both .WAV and .WMA files:

  1. The maximum audio length is 10 minutes for the Music on Hold greeting.
  2. The maximum audio length is 10 seconds for the user's Voice Portal Personalized Name.
  3. The maximum audio length is 2 minutes for a Voice Messaging Greeting and Custom Ringback User/Group.
  4. For all other services, the maximum audio length is 5 minutes.

All files must be smaller than 10 Mb in size.

Configuring Music On Hold

  1. From the dashboard, select Music On Hold under Group Services.
  2. Here is a list of the music-on-hold profiles that are set up and assigned to the group/location. To modify, click the name of the music-on-hold profile you would like to edit.
  3. When brought to the next screen, edit fields on each tab - Setting, General Audio, Internal Audio - by selecting the Settings icon.
  1. To create a new music-on-hold profile, select the Plus icon.
  1. Select the Department to assign.
  2. Enable/disable to have the music-on-hold file play during any of the following situations by checking the appropriate checkbox:
    • Enable During Call Hold
    • Enable During Call Park
    • Enable During Busy Camp On

 

  1. Select Save to save your changes.
  2. You are automatically brought to the next screen to modify additional settings, as needed. Here is where you can add custom audio, if desired.
  3. On the General Audio tab, select the Settings icon to modify.
  4. Here you can choose the following:
    • Audio Codec
    • Announcement Type
      • System
      • Custom - If this option is selected, upload a new audio file by selecting the Plus icon or choose from the announcement repository by selecting the List icon.
  5. Select Save to save your changes.

 

  1. On the Internal Audio tab, select the Settings icon to modify.
  2. Here you can choose the following:
    • Audio Codec
    • Announcement Type
      • System
      • Custom - If this option is selected, upload a new audio file by selecting the Plus icon or choose from the announcement repository by selecting the List icon.
  3. Select Save to save your changes.
